Additional Advanced Engineering Mathematics Information

This market leading text is known for its comprehensive coverage, careful and correct mathematics, outstanding exercises and self contained subject matter parts for maximum flexibility.

Thoroughly updated and streamlined to reflect new developments in the field, the ninth edition of this bestselling text features modern engineering applications and the uses of technology. Kreyszig introduces engineers and computer scientists to advanced math topics as they relate to practical problems. The material is arranged into seven independent parts: ODE; Linear Algebra, Vector Calculus; Fourier Analysis and Partial Differential Equations; Complex Analysis; Numerical methods; Optimization, graphs; and Probability and Statistics.

What Customers Say About Advanced Engineering Mathematics:

There are very many relevant examples and problems to work through and each concept is carefully discussed and placed in context.Surprisingly, there are number of highly critical reviews about it and I can only conclude these are from people who did not understand what they were buying. This really is an excellent text that covers all of engineering mathematics and much, much more. The "Advanced" is in the title for a reason. It is a superb reference that will in come useful again and again for anyone working at the analytical end of engineering related fields. It is also entirely appropriate for learning material for the first time. You are expected to have a good knowledge of maths and this should include all basic calculus, so buy it for what it is - an advanced text. Do not expect a coverage of fundamental topics, there are many other good books which cover these.

OF course, 3D SEISMIC DATA ANALYSES require a lot of FFT(FAST FOURIER TRANSFORMS) analysis. ALSO, I am researching GEOSTATISTICS & STOCHASTIC MODELLING. I strongly recommend you to learn ADVANCED ENGINEERING MATHS from Prof. Until recently I started to read PROF.ERWIN KREYSZIG's ADVANCED ENGINEERING MATHEMATICS BOOK, I am really enjoying myself again to revise such a challenging MATHS subject which I learnt THIRTY YEARS ago in A CANADIAN UNIVERSITY of CALGARY, ALBERTA.I found KREYSZIG's ENGINEERING MATHEMATICS BOOK very well organised, very comprehensive.

HOW in the WORLD that THE POOR CHINESE GUYS can afford to attend ENGINEERING SCHOOLS or COLLEGES in USA's MIT, STANFORD, CALTECH, PURDUE, CORNELL etc. I even felt that PROF.KREYSZIG is actually giving me MATHS LECTURES instead of reading on my own. I found the content of the BOOK in ODE, PDE, and in PARTICULARLY TOPICS in LAPLACE & FOURIER TRANSFORMS are very helpful to my PETROLEUM E&P ENGINEERING TASKS. I am a VETERAN PETROLEUM ENGINEERING EXPERT for THIRTY YEARS, I AM ALSO PROFESSIONAL EXPLORATION GEOPHYSICIST dealing with 3D SEISMIC DATA PROCESSING for many years. Well if you want to learnt ADVANCED ENGINEERING MATHS by yourself, YOU MUST first READ PROF.ERWIN KREYSZIG's FANTASTICBOOK. BUT, I found PROF.KREYSZIG's BOOK much more interesting because it is very well organised.Well, it's up to you if you want to become ENGINEERS or SCIENTISTS or not.

ERWIN KREYSZIG. If you want to be even BETTER, there is no harm to keep on digging.FYI, I am a SELF-TAUGHT SCIENTIST in HONG KONG.

I am sure that you are as smart as me.YOU will for sure enjoy too.Well, I am really enjoying myself by self-improving everyday.BEST REGARDS,STEPHEN M. HOWEVER, when I recall my MATHS CAREER,which was in 1973, almost 36 years ago during the SUMMER COURSES of HIGH SCHOOL CALCULUS(which was more serious MATHS than JUNIOR HIGH's), it was a disaster because I never came across any REAL GOOD ARITHMETICS or MATHEMATICS teacher in my LIFE in all those years, from 1965 til 1978.

We barely have enough for our daily RICE.IT's all up to you, how much you want to learn.THE SKY is THE LIMIT. MAY BE, I AM VERY SMART in order to appreciate PROF.ERWIN KREYSZIG's works on ADVANCED ENGINEERING MATHEMATICS so enjoyable.

I am still keeping two(2) volumes of other authors' ADVANCED ENGINEERING MATHEMATICS BOOKS which were published in 1960. I learnt that PRESIDENT ABRAHAM LINCOLN was a self-taught LAWYER.

YUNG,HONG KONG,CHINA.[.].

I am using this book for a graduate level engineering math class, and it was highly recommended by my advisor. I will admit we are only three chapters into the book, but so far the book is not helping me to understand the material the way I think a textbook should. The examples do not show step-by-step solutions and do little to emphasize the material, and I frequently find that I have to look other places for supplemental material.

This is one of the worst books I have ever used. The examples given in the book are not explained so unless you are the teacher or have prior knowledge to the subject matter you are just lost. I find myself using google for help more than this book.

This is aggravating, because some problems may be of a similar type but different difficulty level. I have not purchased many study guides/solutions manuals in the past, but this one has to rank among the worst. It has the chapters broken down by sections, but there is not really any information to augment what is in the textbook. Only solutions to selected problems are given, and from what I have seen there is only one solution provided for a given type of problem. So, I have decided that this thing is useless and a complete waste of money. It simply goes right into solutions for the problems at the end of each section.

I understand that the authors probably did this to prevent students from buying the solutions to homework problems, since many professors like to assign even problems because there is no answer provided in the textbook. First off, there is no study guide in this thing. Making matters worse, only solutions to odd numbered problems are provided. Although I would prefer to have a study guide supplement to the text (since that is what I payed for and thought I was getting), I have to say that I would be okay with just the solutions if they were all actually there. But no, that is not the case. However, since you can usually figure out how to solve a problem if you know what answer you are working towards (hence the reason for professors assigning even numbered problems), having solutions to selected odd numberd problems is just not that helpful.

Don't buy it.
